I must say that this is an act of bravery and congratulations to Zed Zaidi for attempting to open the eyes of the people. It is no doubt unfair that someone who is not even local to hold such a title in this country. If not well supervised, in future, there would even be Indonesian or Korean who would stand a chance to compete and win.
However, before moving to that line of nationality, I think that the so-called prestigious event should be revised too. It has now become obvious that something is wrong with the event organised by one of the established local newspaper giants. If you say that it should focus more on the popularity of the local artists, why does the event appeared racist for so many years?
As he proudly said "1Malaysia" on national television, I think he should be more concerned with how the event has been so focused on the popularity of the Malay artists. Malaysia needs more events of a nationalistic approach. Berita Harian should be read by all walks of life, it shouldn't be the Malays only. The same thing goes to other racial-based award events. There shouldn't be one particular event show for one specific race. There's nothing 1Malaysia if such events are celebrated only by a specific group of people.
Think about it. Which is more worthy? Fighting for the nationality differences or fighting for our common grounds?
